Board Work Study Meetings Now Scheduled for Tuesdays

Regularly scheduled work study meetings will now be held on Tuesdays. The next work study will take place Tuesday, January 6, 2009, when the board is scheduled to receive information, discuss and make a decision on board communication. They will also receive information on and discuss the upcoming year’s budget. This meeting was previously advertised as scheduled for Wed., Jan. 7. Police Chief Awards Commendation Medal to TBHS Student

On November 13, 2008, 17-year old grocery bagger and Todd Beamer High School student Moisei B. found a bag containing $10,000 in the bathroom of Top Foods Grocery. Construction Bond Update – Breaking Ground and Breaking the Mold

In May, 2007, voters in the Federal Way Public Schools service area approved a $149 million bond construction package. Sixteen months later, groundwork is underway at Valhalla Elementary, and Panther Lake Elementary groundwork will be started shortly. Judge Rules in Favor of Federal Way Schools in Fair Funding Lawsuit

On November 2, 2007, King County Superior Court Judge Michael Heavey declared the state's current school funding system, in particular the LEAP salary allocation table, unconstitutional. The lawsuit was brought against the state last year to challenge the state’s system of funding, which results in substantial inequities in state funding from one school district to the next.
