Preparing for an Emergency

Spanish (19K PDF) | Russian (93K PDF) | Korean (250K PDF)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In times like these, it’s only natural to be concerned about the safety of your family, friends and colleagues. It’s no different here at Federal Way Public Schools, where the safety of our students and staff is our first concern.

Each of our schools has a building emergency plan in place, and that plan includes procedures on responding to incidents like fires, earthquakes, or intruders. We have regular drills during the school year to prepare for these types of incidents.

In addition, the district has an All Hazard Plan and a District Emergency Command Center (ECC) to coordinate response activities across the district. Over the past few months, we’ve been working with our local fire and law enforcement agencies and emergency management teams to fine-tune our emergency plans, and to be sure that they address the types of threats facing our nation today.

This website will be updated as new information becomes available – check back as often as you like.

Your child’s safety is our number one concern. If you have suggestions or concerns, please contact your child’s school, the district’s Community Relations office or my office at 253-945-2000.

Thomas R. Murphy,
Superintendent
